The importance of inclusion (Lianna)

Since admissions staff see only the students who apply, they very reasonably underestimate the number who exist”

These educational institutions do not make an effort to interpolate themselves into these marginalized groups and their academia. They do not see beyond those who apply to their universities thus further creating this divisiveness among “town and gown” communities. If an effort towards inclusiveness was made then perhaps there wouldn’t be a lacking when it comes to queer studies in higher institutions. People want to see themselves in books and their history in their studies. It’s time for a revitalization when it comes to those who are not represented in texts.
