It’s not easy for all, so let’s still make it difficult. (Kellie)

In 2010 when I graduated high school, I was one of the few students who didn’t apply to other colleges other than, the College of Staten Island. I admit, I wasn’t the best student when it came to my work. Nothing phased me, my goal was to pass and get out. A normal mindset for some or most students, am I right? I started my freshman year knowing that I would eventually become a teacher. In my mind, there was no reason for me to go to a high end paid school to receive the same, at least almost, form of degree.  I watched many friends dorm in colleges and would pay visits every so often. Man, did that start to take a toll on me. I started to realize and blame myself for not doing well in high school, getting scholarships and move to somewhere different other than, CSI. It was a school everyone dreaded on going to in high school. I remember classmates of mine made it well aware that CSI was their last resort but I couldn’t really grasp why? Is it because they wanted out? Of course it was. It was freedom and majority have their parents pay for them to live “on their own”.  Unfortunately, not everyone can afford that type of experience and need to think “…we need to look not just at who goes to college, but at who goes where to college.” (Brim p.3)
