Are we too poor to understand queer studies ? (Robert)

Just take a moment to think about what I’m about to say to you, When you were applying for College’s did you think you would go to a “deeply underfunded college”? Either did I. While reading “Poor Queer Studies” by Professor Brim, I came across something very interesting. He mentioned in his essay that, “This is the College of Staten Island, a scrappy, smart, deeply underfunded college in the City University of New York system. We serve the “whole people” of New York.” A couple of things came to mind when I read this. For one I didn’t know that this school was “deeply underfunded” but yet we have such a big beautiful campus, all this land yet the school is poor. They take so much money for us yet the school is struggling when it comes to money. Its true this school is open to the whole of NYC but yet the CUNY system feels as if this school doesn’t deserve the proper funds. This school has the potential to be better than it is if we had better funding. They would be able to have better professor’s, better classes, better food in the cafe and have more things for students to be involved in.
